Restoration Italian bayonet scabbard of World War I

From the attic of my great-grandparents I found this Italian bayonet scabbard of the World War I, unfortunately, as you can see has big holes due to the time and the tip is broken, fortunately in the dust was the missing piece.

First, it cleans well for the piece from dust and oxidation.
Then you start with the real restoration very slowly rusted iron pieces are stuck with Super Glue.

When the job is finished you cover the joints, which will certainly not perfect, with rusty iron powder.

To create this powder just stepping between two sheets of an old rusty sheet metal or the flakes that are detached during the first stage of cleaning.
A polished light with the dremel.

And finally brushed with Owatrol or fidoil.

Rising and setting of 21.12.2012 (supposed to end the world) on Bisalta Besimauda or, if you prefer.
These days it is the first mountain to be lit in the morning and in the evening the sun goes into hiding behind its slopes.
In fact Bisalta is the name of the ridgethe Bric Costa Rossa on the left in the photo on the right to Bisalta.
Featured Mondovì Piazza.
This mountain is always "sacred" for the people of our region. They tell stories of sightings light, ufo, balls of light, strange concentrations of lightning, in 900 there were even research of uranium.
According to legend the top of the mountain should bifida its conformation to an intervention of the devil.
A mountaineer climbed with difficulty, not least because of the wine drunk the night before, along its paths.
When the moon set behind the profile of Besimauda (Bisalta) the pace of 'man became really difficult: rocks, roots, potholes and bumps of all kinds every step turned into a torment.
It was then that the devil appeared to him in exchange for his soul, gave him a little 'moonlight.
The poor man agreed.
Soon an army of little demons cut out of the mountain rock that obscured the moon.
When the devil appeared to mountaineer the deed of sale of his soul, the light of the moon lit up the sign with which the wretch had signed a contractit was a cross, which had no legal value to the Underworld!
The poor man had never learned to write.
His soul was saved.
L 'only at the expense was the mountain, and from that day he appeared with a high-top, that is twice as high"
Surely its charm still has it, for the ancients must have had something divinethat's for sure ...

Hello world

Hello everyone, this is the first post on Stories & Photos, my name is Claudio Galli, I live in the province of Cuneo a little city of Italy. I'm passionate about local history, photography, computer and electronics.
In this blog we will talk of these topics, from the story of simple stories to the restoration of small OBJECTS.
I hope to please share what little I know.
I started to photograph several years ago with a Nikon F5 borrowed from my local photo retailer that also taught me the basics of photography.
Then I had a F65 that still sometimes useI know it isn't a great camera, but it allowed me to learn a lot.
In 2007 I took the plunge and switched to digital photography with a nikon d80, spectacular.
In 2009 I made another big jump and I switched to canon.
The reason for the change is that in Italy brand nikon canon had prices that were too high compared. It also was not guaranteed the assistance of imported products.

I got a 40D with a Tamron 17-50 f 2.8, a really good optics. Soon after came the Sigma 180 Macro and Canon 100-400 L IS. This year I got a Canon 50 f 1.8 a few € and I got the Sigma 12-24, but this view is promising considering that I'm using it on a full frame sensor.
In the last year I took a lot with my Samsung gGalaxy Wonder, only 5 megapixel.
I know that digital photography can not exist without editing but should not be a reversal.
In 2009, we founded the photographic association Mondovì Photo of the site which I take care www.mondoviphoto.com
Hello to all.
